Problem First
We don't pick up a tool before we understand the problem. Every line of code we write answers a specific question asked by a real person in a real situation.
We're a student-led technology studio that started with a simple idea: build things that actually get used.
Craft Your Systems was founded in March 2026 by a group of students who were tired of building portfolio projects that no one used. We wanted to build things that mattered — even at a small scale.
We're not a startup in the traditional sense. There's no funding round, no pitch deck, no growth-at-all-costs mentality. We're a small, focused team that takes on problems we find genuinely interesting and builds solutions we'd actually want to use ourselves.
We work with clients who need real software — not templates, not off-the-shelf tools rebranded with their logo. And we build our own products when we spot a problem nobody's solving well.
We're honest about where we are. Small, early, and building every day.
These aren't values we stuck on a wall. They're the decisions we make every time we sit down to build something.
We don't pick up a tool before we understand the problem. Every line of code we write answers a specific question asked by a real person in a real situation.
We move quickly but don't pretend features exist before they do. Shipping a working v1 with clear limitations beats a polished v0 that overpromises.
We're students — that's not a limitation, it's the point. Every project teaches us something the last one couldn't. We document what breaks and build better the next time.
We build systems, not scripts. Code should still make sense in six months. Decisions made today compound — for better or worse — so we make them deliberately.
CYS was registered as a student-led technology studio. Started with one clear goal: build software that solves practical problems rather than chasing trends.
Development kicked off on Steward — a restaurant operating system. Chose this problem deliberately: local restaurants were struggling with disconnected tools and manual processes.
Onboarded our first restaurant partner to test Steward in a live environment. Moved from theory to real feedback within weeks of starting development.
Designed and built a responsive website for a local specialty coffee brand. First external client project — delivered on time, on brief, and on budget.
Continuing to develop Steward, taking on client projects, and learning from every build. One step at a time.
"Build software that solves real problems for real people — honestly, methodically, and with enough ambition to grow into something that matters."
We're not trying to build the next unicorn. We're trying to build systems that work, clients who trust us, and a team that gets better with every project. The ambition comes from the craft, not the pitch deck.
A note on where we are
We're three months old. One product in active development, one client website delivered, one pilot customer. We're proud of what we've shipped and honest about how much is still ahead. This page will look very different in a year.
We take on a small number of client projects at a time so we can do them properly. Tell us what you're building.
